A test of faith....
As a Christian, you may have heard the phrase "God's timing is perfect." But what happens when the timing of your body seems to be out of sync with your desires? This was the reality for me when I received the news that my fertility journey was going to be more challenging than I had anticipated.
At the age of 28, we went to see a fertility specialist after experiencing irregular periods and struggling to conceive for over two years. After running some tests, the doctor informed me that my AMH level (a marker for ovarian reserve) was equivalent to that of a 35-year-old. Additionally, my insulin level was significantly higher than it should be, indicating potential issues with insulin resistance.
Hearing this news was overwhelming and discouraging. I had always assumed that I would have no trouble getting pregnant when the time was right. However, I realized that my body was not functioning as it should, and it was difficult to reconcile this reality with my faith.
As a Christian, I believe that God is the author of life and has a plan for each of us. However, I also believe that He has given us the ability to seek medical treatment and support to address health issues. This is where my fertility journey began to intersect with my faith.
I sought guidance from my family of faith and received prayer and support during this challenging time. At the same time, I also continued to work with my doctor to find a solution to my fertility issues. He recommended a CPM blood test before prescribing any medications, which would provide more detailed information about my hormone levels and ovarian function.
While waiting for the results of the test, I found comfort in the Bible verse Isaiah 41:10, which says, "Do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand." This verse reminded me that even in the midst of uncertainty and fear, God is with me and will provide the strength and support I need.
When the results of the CPM blood test came back, they confirmed that my hormone levels were indeed imbalanced and that my ovaries were not functioning optimally. With this information, my doctor prescribed medications to regulate my hormones and improve my fertility.
Throughout this journey, I have continued to rely on my faith for strength and guidance. While the process has been challenging, I have also found hope and encouragement in the promises of God. As it says in Romans 8:28, "And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose."
As a Christian navigating fertility issues, it can be easy to feel alone or misunderstood, but I have found comfort in the knowledge that God is with me and that there are resources available to help me on this journey. Whether through prayer, support from loved ones, or medical treatment, I am reminded that God's timing and plan for my life are perfect.
